We are honoured to introduce our panel of distinguished judges, who bring a wealth of expertise and insight to the nomination process. Each judge has been carefully selected for their outstanding achievements and contributions to their respective fields.

  • Spencer Gore

    Spencer Gore has over 25 years’ experience in the publishing industry and founded his current business in 2012. He has led EMJ to be regarded as one of Europe's leading digital health communication companies. EMJ has revolutionised open access education and lifelong learning opportunities under Spencer’s leadership. He is a serial entrepreneur who loves innovation, launching 7 different businesses including the recent launch of The American Medical Journal.

    Spencer is a multiple award winner, including the Queens Award for Enterprise, voted Entrepreneur of the Year at the BDA's 50th annual awards and listed in The Times by LDC as one of the 50 most ambitious business leaders. He has been pivotal in ensuring EMJ made it to 60th on The Times 100 list of the fastest growing businesses in the UK.”

  • Darren Clark

    Darren is a successful, award-winning entrepreneur, and an international speaker who has inspired thousands of people across the globe with his tireless campaigning for dyslexic people.


    He was invited to become a global partner for the International Dyslexia Association, an Ambassador for the British Dyslexia Association, and a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group advising the UK government on issues associated with SpLDs

  • Shoshana Whybrow

    Shoshana Whybrow is a senior executive with over 15 years of experience in Corporate and Public Affairs. Her career spans the UK and international landscapes, across both the Corporate, Public and the Charity Sector.

    Currently at Sage PLC, a leading provider of business technology solutions, she leads Corporate Affairs with responsibility for internal communications, planning and strategy. Prior to Sage, she was part of the communications team at Tesco, one of the world’s largest retailers heading up Strategic Communications and the Press Officer.

    Shoshana is also a dedicated advocate for dyslexia, as a dyslexic individual herself and mother to a dyslexic daughter. As a trustee with the British Dyslexia Association, she uses her professional background to amplify the association’s initiatives.

  • Frances Akinde

    Frances Akinde, a qualified SENCO and former headteacher of a Special School for learners with Autism, has over 20 years of experience in primary, secondary, special/alternative provision, and local authority roles. She has worked as an Art & Design Technology teacher, an SLCN advisory teacher, and now serves part-time as a SEND inspector and advisor while managing her consultancy.

    After discovering her neurodivergence and hearing impairment in 2022, she left headship to focus on training for inclusive schools and workplaces. In 2023, she co-launched the BAMEed SEND Hub and is an Anti-Racist Schools coach. Her book, Be An Ally, Not a Bystander, is due for release in October 2024
